The real estate industry has just emerged from several years of crisis. The transaction level is high, the housing market is booming, and both urban and rural municipalities are busy with project development.

Our real estate and construction department provides advisory services and litigates within virtually all aspects of real estate and construction.

We continuously publish books and articles about real estate. We are regular writers for Berlingske Tidende and on boligsiden.dk where we provide readers with insight into real property issues.

We lecture at the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen on purchase and sale of real estate, and we teach attorneys and real estate agents, among others, who attend their supplementary training programmes.

Since 2014, we have had a ranking on The Legal 500’s list of the best law firms in Denmark. This ranking includes the fields of real estate and construction. The Legal 500 is the most prominent legal work of reference in the world. We provide advisory services and assistance in connection with dispute resolution within the social housing sector, where the rules to a wide extent resemble those applicable within housing rent law but still differ significantly from these on essential points, not least due to the municipal supervision and the special rules on residents’ democracy.

We provide advisory services within all areas of housing rent law. We provide advice on and assist in the preparation and amendment of rent contracts, and we provide advisory services on the obligation to submit an offer to buy, rent determination, rent adjustment, requirements regarding vacation of premises, termination with and without notice. The Property Association of Denmark (Ejendomsforeningen Danmark) has appointed one of our attorneys to the position of rent court judge at the Copenhagen City Court, the Court in Glostrup and the Court in Lyngby.

A typical project starts with an option to buy a piece of land or property and provision of the required zoning basis, negotiation and conclusion of construction and consultancy agreements, the execution of the construction work and resale and/or renting.

We work with many different types of property project development, including conversion of commercial properties to residential properties, construction or rebuilding of real property, roof dwelling projects, development of owner-occupied and cooperative housing projects, house constructions and house owners’ associations as well as conversion of port and industrial areas into residential neighbourhoods.

We teach real estate agents and attorneys when they attend their mandatory supplementary training courses in property project development. Furthermore, we have been involved in the development by the Danish Association of Chartered Estate Agents of project sale standards, which express good realtor practice in connection with project sales.

We provide advisory services on housing association and construction law for homeowners’ associations and cooperative housing associations as well as property administrators. We advise on the establishment and operation of housing associations and cooperative housing associations, issues pertaining to association law, construction cases, development of roof areas, balcony projects, subsidised renovations in accordance with the provisions of the urban renewal legislation, expulsion cases and evictions.

In 2016, we wrote the book “Ejerlejligheder og andelsboliger”. This book is an agglomerated presentation of legislation appertaining to owner-occupied flats and cooperative housing, highlighting similarities and differences. The book runs to 499 pages and deals with approximately 700 judgments, orders and rulings. The book is the latest and most comprehensive work covering the area.

We provide advisory services to all players within construction, including architects, technical consultants, contractors, investors as well as private, municipal and government builders. We provide assistance in connection with negotiation and preparation of works contracts and consultancy agreements, preparation of all customary agreements, building arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, expert decisions and expert appraisal. We also assist our clients with project development and the commercial agreements which often form part of such development projects.

We assist our clients with negotiation and execution of purchase and sale of real property. We identify risks and possibilities in connection with our due diligence, we provide advice on ownership structure and we ensure that conveyance takes place on a well-informed basis.

We teach attorneys, developers and real estate agents on the subject of purchase and sale of real property and we lecture at the Faculty of Law at the University of Copenhagen on purchase and sale of real estate.

We provide advisory services on environmental law risks in connection with conveyance, environmental clauses, Environmental Impact Assessments, environmental evaluations and district plans. We also provide assistance in connection with complaints heard by the Environmental Board of Appeal and the valuation authorities as well as legal proceedings within this field of expertise.

We provide advice, litigate and write textbooks on almost all subjects concerning real estate. We have written two books on professional liability of advisors in connection with conveyance of real property and cooperative housing. It is therefore only natural that we also litigate court cases and arbitration cases on the professional liability of attorneys, real estate agents, administrators and architects.
